Op. Dr. Metin Kuş, MD (Talk Topic: Beyond the White Coat: The Experience of Practicing Medicine in Challenging Conditions)
After completing his medical education at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Kuş completed his residency in general surgery at Haydarpaşa Numune Hospital. Dr. Kuş has stood out not only for his clinical experience, but also for the trust and communication he establishes in the patient-physician relationship.
What brought him to the attention of a wide audience, however, was his experiences delivering healthcare services under challenging natural conditions with limited resources. As one of the figures who best reflects the social aspects of medicine, this role — which led him to become known as "the doctor of Survivor" — offers a powerful example of how practicing medicine beyond the conventional hospital setting is possible. Throughout this process, by single-handedly addressing various health problems, he has demonstrated remarkable experience in field medicine, crisis management, and rapid decision-making.
